The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted a truth that was always there: immigrants are the backbone of North America’s healthcare system. These underpaid, overworked, and often underappreciated individuals from diverse backgrounds countinuously care for others as much as they thrive to support each other to the best of their ability.

 

  This dedication can be traced back to the values instilled in us by our ancestors : principles of love, compassion and a strong sense of community that are embedded in our DNA. This diversity is our strength. From my personal experience in emergency rooms, I’ve witnessed firsthand the importance of having caregivers who reflect the community they serve. It’s vital : WE NEED PEOPLE WHO LOOK LIKE US TO CARE FOR US!
